Nikita Lastochkin Looks Forward to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
With two Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires event weekends with his new HMD Motorsports program now behind him, Nikita Lastochkin is looking forward to taking on the team’s home event this weekend. Traveling from California to Indiana to compete in rounds five and six, Lastochkin will tackle the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in his HMD Motorsports prepared #59 entry.
“I am really looking forward to getting on track in Indy,” explained Lastochkin. “Of course, Barber was cool, and the Streets of St. Pete is awesome, but nothing compares to the Speedway. I am having a blast with the guys from HMD as they are the most professional program that I have ever been part of. It is the first time that I have had a driver coach, and engineering team that works together, and a structured program that is open about communication.”
Scoring the best result of his short Indy Lights career at round three in St. Pete, Lastochkin accomplished all of his goals and will now reset for Indy.
Nikita continued, “Though I have raced in St. Pete before, I had never done so in an Indy Lights car. I wanted to make sure that I kept all four corners on the car in each session and accomplished that. I had my best finish of the season so all in all, I chalk the weekend up as a success. Now, I am ready to continue that improvement this weekend in Indy.”
Taking to the track on Thursday for a pair of Promoter Test Sessions prior to the one official practice for the weekend, Friday and Saturday will both feature qualifying and races, round five on Friday and round six on Sunday just before the start of the NTT IndyCar Series race.
